Hakim, "Hak", was born in Detroit, Michigan. Hak left the corporate financial tier of entertainment, as a Sr. Financial Anlayst for Barry Diller and his many film and television companies: USA Networks, USA Broadcasting, Home Shopping Network, and Savoy Pictures (Bronx Tale '93), in 1999, to peruse his passion for writing and directing. He worked as a telemarketer and studied film at UCLA, until close friend, Camille Friend, introduced him to Martin Glover, on the filming of "Coach Carter" (2005). Hak made his directorial debut by writing, directing, and producing "4 Life". A novel based on "A Thug's Life" by Thomas Long.
